David Guilmette is a lifelong resident of Maine, born and raised in Gardiner, and a proud resident of Richmond for over 30 years. A Vietnam Combat Veteran and graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, David’s commitment to service runs deep.
David’s career has spanned more than four decades of public service. After serving three years of active military duty, he transitioned into law enforcement, where he worked as a municipal police officer for five years, followed by eight years as a Deputy for the Kennebec County Sheriff's Department. For over 16 years, David served as a Detective with the Secretary of State’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and for more than two decades, he directed the Enforcement, Anti-Theft and Regulations Division at the Maine BMV, safeguarding the integrity of the state’s motor vehicle system.

David believes in the power of community and the need for government to work for the people. He is a staunch supporter of the Constitution of the United States and the State of Maine, particularly standing up for the 2nd Amendment rights of Maine’s citizens. David is committed to reducing tax burdens, promoting fiscal responsibility, and ensuring transparency and fairness in government policies.
As a proud advocate of school choice, David supports giving parents more control over their children’s education and promoting transparency in public school curricula. He also believes in creating a strong business climate that benefits both local entrepreneurs and the broader Maine economy.
David’s platform also includes securing U.S. borders, enforcing federal immigration laws, and ensuring that Maine continues to be a safe and thriving community for all its residents.

An avid outdoorsman, David has spent much of his life enjoying Maine’s natural beauty and is deeply committed to preserving it for future generations. His connection to the land, combined with his extensive law enforcement and military background, has shaped his leadership style—one rooted in integrity, hard work, and service.
David Guilmette is running for the Maine House of Representatives because he believes in a government that is accountable, transparent, and truly serves the people. He is ready to bring his experience, values, and commitment to Augusta to ensure a better future for all Mainers.
